On Tuesday, December 25, 2018, Bette “Betsy” Adam, devoted mom, grandmother, sister, and partner in life, passed away at age 70.

Betsy was born on July 19, 1948 in Washington, D.C. to John and Opal (Sheid) Meyer. She received her AA in Dental Hygiene from Loyola Marymount in New Orleans, LA. It was in New Orleans where she met and married Robert “Robin” B. Adam II. They raised two children, Peggy and Bobby in Boulder Creek, CA, where they resided for 27 years. While raising her children and practicing dental hygiene, Betsy earned her Bachelor’s degree from St. Mary’s College in Health Care Administration.

In 2001 Betsy and Robin relocated to Phoenix, AZ to be closer to Peggy and her grandchildren, Sarah and John. Betsy continued to practice dental hygiene in AZ as well as teach hygiene at Phoenix College. Her love for teaching compelled her to earn a Master’s in Health Care Education at the age of 60.

Betsy loved to quilt, root for her favorite baseball and football teams, cook amazing food, ride the waves in the ocean, and travel with her partner Leonard. Betsy’s true passion was for connecting with and caring for people, which showed in how she cared for her patients, her students, her friends, and her family.

Betsy was preceded in death by her husband Robert B. Adam II, and her parents, John and Opal Meyer. She is survived by her children, Robert “Bobby” B. Adam III (Lauren) and Peggy Niana; her sister Dale (Mark) Hillard; her Grandchildren, Sarah Niana, John Niana, Evan Adam, and Ryder Adam; her Nephew Aaron (Veronica) Hillard; and her most loving partner of 9 years, Leonard Queckboerner.

Funeral services will be held in both Arizona and California. In Arizona the service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday January 12, 2019 at Hansen Mortuary, 8314 N. 7th Street, Phoenix 85020. In California the service will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday January 26, 2019 at Poplar Creek Golf Course, 1700 Coyote Point Dr., San Mateo, CA 94401.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that you donate to a Memorial Scholarship for Dental Hygiene at Phoenix College. A Go Fund me account has been set up to accept donations through this link. https://www.gofundme.com/betsy-adam-dental-hygiene-scholarship&rcid=r01-154583999974-38506c1ee55b4e8b&pc=ot_co_campmgmt_w

I played golf with Betsy when she first joined the Thursday league here in Phx. She was friendly and so easy to be around. It wasn’t hard to find things to talk about with Betsy….we had some things in common and it was clear she was a very compassionate person. We were all blessed to know her. Leonard and Betsy’s family…sending loving thoughts and prayers your way.
