Lila Petersen Eisenhower, age 91, passed away on December 20, 2018. She was the wife of Dr. Arthur John Eisenhower. They shared 72 years of marriage. Born in Joseph City, Arizona, she was the daughter of Nell Petersen Shumway and Parley Pratt Petersen. She was a talented artist and craftswoman, who used her gifts to create a beautiful home for her husband and four children. She received a Bachelors degree in Art Education and a Masters in Media Arts. After her children were on their own, she was employed by Sperry Flight Systems as an audio-visual specialist, the Peace Corps for 3 ½ years in Afghanistan and El Salvador, and for several years as a real estate agent in Phoenix. Later she devoted over a decade caring for her mother and aunts. She was very involved in the Pine-Strawberry Museum where she created displays and historical documents. She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and artistic talents, including sewing, costume and clothing design, furniture refinishing, cooking, pottery, ceramics, copper enamel and painting. She is survived by her spouse, children Jean Ann Eisenhower, Laurie Nell Eisenhower McGray, Susan Jo Eisenhower, John Arthur Eisenhower and wife Kim, 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. The mortuary chapel will be open to visit with family from 1:00pm-3:00pm with the Eulogy at 1:30pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or a non-profit charity of choice.
