Rudy entered eternal rest on September 28, 2017. He was born in New Kensington, PA in 1934. In 1947, Rudy, his parents, Rudolph and Geraldine, and his brothers, Bob and Bill moved to Phoenix. Rudy attended Wilson Elementary School, Phoenix Union High School (class of 1952) and Phoenix College. After serving two years with the United States Army, stationed at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas, Rudy returned to Phoenix.
In 1957, he married the love of his life, Suzanne Eleanor Wadlow (1934-2007). Rudy and Sue had five children, Matthew Floyd (1957-2002) (Anne), Margaret Suzanne Friedrichs (Larry), Stephanie Lynne Ross-Schubert (Ken), Jennifer Clare O’Callaghan (Jay), and Michael Rudolph Ross (Kristen). Rudy left behind 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Rudy worked for Equitable Life Assurance, New York Life, The Valley of the Sun United Way, Funk Greyhound Race tracks in Phoenix, Apache Junction and Black Canyon City, Sam Houston Race Park and the IRS.
Rudy was a kind, devoted husband and father. He often worked 2 jobs, instilling in his children the desire to succeed through hard work. Even with a rigorous schedule, Rudy made time to ensure the family experienced the beautiful Southwest. Camping adventures were a regular activity, bringing the entire family closer together. Through his selfless efforts and his every action, his children and grandchildren have grown to embrace the importance of family, hard work, and living life to the fullest. Rudy will be missed by all, but his legacy as a genuine, loving and honest human being persists in all of those that had the opportunity to be part of his life.
