Thomas Daniel Harley, 83, passed away on July 19, 2019. He was the husband of Gail
A. Harley. They shared 55 years of marriage.
Tom was born in Brooklyn, New York, the son of Joseph and Elizabeth Harley and grew
up in St. Theresa of Avila Parish. He enlisted in the U.S. Army after graduating from
high school and was stationed in Germany. After his service was completed, Tom joined
the New York City Fire Department and retired in 1976. He graduated from John Jay
College of Criminal Justice while working for the FDNY.
After retiring from FDNY Tom and his family moved to Arizona in 1977 where he
continued his dedication to the firefighting community through his service to
Thunderbird Fire and Safety which later became First In Fire and Safety Equipment.
Tom was a dedicated and loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend.
He is survived by his wife Gail; his brother Joseph Harley; children Thomas J. Harley,
Christine (Harley) McNeal, Kelly (Harley) Glawe and Lynn (Harley) Hickey; grandchildren
Hannah, Sarah, Jackson, Janie, Grace, Phoebe, Jordan, Katie, Elly and Maggie. He
was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Elizabeth (Bessie) Harley; his
grandson Brock Christopher Harley; his brothers George, James, and William; and
sisters Eileen (Harley) Garrigan and Jean (Harley) Savage.
Memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 11 at 2:00 pm, Hansen Desert Hills
Chapel, 6500 East Bell Road, Scottsdale, AZ 85254. Celebration of life immediately
following at Paradise Peak West Clubhouse, 3901 East Pinnacle Peak Road, Phoenix,
