About Us
In the end, your death doesn’t belong to you, it belongs to anyone who has ever cared for, loved, or shared life with you. – Karl Jennings
At Hansen Mortuaries & Cemetery, we focus on helping the living successfully navigate that crucial time between the event of death and the onset of grief – or the “acute loss period.”

Our Story
The most important decision for people during this difficult time isn’t burial or cremation, it is rather to fully understand how their choices impact the emotional, relational and spiritual well-being of those who have cared for, loved and shared life with their loved one.
Our mission is to take the mystery out of what to do when a loved one dies, and focus instead on how to maximize the benefits from each stage of the acute loss period so you can grieve, grow, heal and continue to love.
In 1950, Chester and Janice Hansen founded Hansen Mortuary in Phoenix, AZ. All four Hansen children, Rae Jeanne, Brad, Craig, and Trish, grew up in the business and helped fulfill their parent’s vision of building a comprehensive mortuary committed to serving families in the greater Phoenix area. In 1997, Hansen Desert Hills Mortuary and Cemetery opened in Scottsdale, continuing to expand the family’s vision.
Today, Brad Hansen and Trish Hansen Kerr operate Hansen Mortuaries and Cemetery. They continue the “Hansen Way” by upholding their parent’s legacy of providing compassionate and personalized service to all families while helping them heal. They remain committed to the core values established by Chester and Jan: Integrity for the deceased, Care for the family and Charity to the community they live in.
