Carol “Bud” R. Cosper, 87, passed away on November 20, 2018. He was born on July 2, 1931 in Clifton, Arizona to Clifton and Mauricia Cosper. Married to Marilyn Verrenti Cosper, his wife of 55 years, she preceded him in death, on Mother’s Day, May 10, 2015. Bud is survived by his older brother Clifton Gene Cosper of Tucson; his son Brian of Phoenix; grandsons Cory and Colin; and his great-granddaughter Rori Cosper.
Bud attended Arizona State University (ASU) in Tempe for 1 ½ years and left to join the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He then attended Radar Navigator School. After graduation he flew for the Air Defense Command and was stationed at Hamilton Air Force Base in CA and Ladd Air Force Base in Alaska. He flew in B-47s and B-52s for the next 14 years. He spent three six-month tours overseas during the Vietnam Conflict. He retired in September 1971 as a Lieutenant Colonel. Upon his retirement from the USAF he attended George Washington University in Washington, DC and received his master’s degree at ASU in May 1971. Bud was a math teacher for Paradise Unified School District retiring from his second career on October 29, 1992.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 14, 2018 at Hansen Chapel, 8314 N. 7th St, Phoenix, AZ 85020, to be followed by graveside services at Holy Redeemer Catholic Cemetery, 23015 N. Cave Creek Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85024.
