Charles (Chuck) F. Weaver passed away on January 9, 2019 after a long battle with Alzheimer disease. He was born on April 25, 1931 to Charles and Catherine Weaver in Detroit, Michigan. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, son Jon, grandsons Josh and Tyler, two unborn grandchildren and his beloved Grandmother Pansy Weaver who raised him.
He attended Northwestern High School where he developed his love of tennis. Chuck served in the Navy during the Korean War. After his Navy service, he attended Michigan State where he received an associate’s degree in insurance.
Chuck met and married his wife Patricia in Detroit, Michigan in 1960. The following year, in June of 1961, he and his wife along with their new baby relocated to Phoenix, Arizona. Chuck worked in the Insurance industry for over 40 years. He received his Charter Property and Casualty Underwriter designation in 1978. In the 1980’s Chuck opened his own agency – Kachina Insurance Agency. He and his wife worked in their agency until they retired.
Chuck and his family always lived in North Phoenix and were amazed at the growth of the city over the years. Chuck and his family were among the original members of St. Paul’s Catholic Church. He was an active member of the parish serving as a Eucharistic Minister and in Pastoral Care. Chuck was also active in St. Vincent de Paul at both St. Paul’s and St. Luke’s for many years.
An avid sports fan Chuck enjoyed following golf, tennis, football, baseball, and basketball. Coming from Detroit, he was a lifelong Lions and Tigers fan. Chuck enjoyed playing a round of golf with family and friends. To escape the heat of the Arizona summer he liked to escape to San Diego or Sedona.
Chuck was not the gardener in the family. He had an affinity for only one plant, the Red Hibiscus, planted out in front of the house. He devotedly watered these plants throughout the years. We believe the Red Hibiscus reminded him of the time he spent in San Diego while in the Navy.
Chuck is survived by his wife of 58 years Patricia, children Bill, Mary Beth, Matt (Leticia), Mark and Mike (Stephanie), eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
