Gloria Jean Sissea Schuler

74, known to all as “Babe”, gracefully passed away from us to Heaven on July 9, 2016 at St. Joe’s Hospital. Babe was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, auntie, and friend. She was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1941, but lived her childhood in Canton, Ohio. She attended Glenwood HS. She and her family were founding and faithful members of St. George’s Romanian Catholic Cathedral. In 1959, she attended Ohio University where she was a member of the Sigma Kappa Sorority and a cheerleader. There she met her love, and life partner of 53 years, Mike Schuler. She is survived by her loving husband and daughters Kimberly Foxx, married to Bryan Foxx, and Kristin Baker married to Rick Baker. Together Gloria and Mike were grandparents to their truest loves in life Weston Foxx, Madison Foxx, Jaxson Baker, and Jordan Baker. She was a loyal sister to Carol Sissea Hoge and Elaine Sissea Macroglou. She was a second mom to her nieces and nephews: Kevin Hoge, Anne Hoge Milliken, Jenna Hoge Swaim, Nikolas Macroglou, and Lauren Macroglou Fadda. Outside of being a devoted wife and mother, she was a steadfast, compassionate, tried and true friend to so many within her circle, community, causes, basketball teams, tennis teams, and clubs. She was a “Warrior Woman” and fought defiantly until the end against her only nemesis, ovarian cancer. She admired and joined forces with Dr. Bradley Monk, his staff, and all the unsung heroes who are continuously dedicating their personal and professional lives in fighting the good fight to “Pound out Cancer”. She lived her years well and passed quickly with very little suffering physically, but anguished over the thought of leaving us all without her unconditional caretaking. Safe and at peace, she is now in the warm embrace of Our Heavenly Father and her parents Helen and Troy Sissea. The impact she had on earth will be forever unknown to her. She left a mark on all who are so saddened by her absence now, and for years to come. Her passions were her family, friends, grandchildren’s activities, and checking off the items on her bucket list as best as she could dream and physically accomplish. She is now at rest free of sickness and fear, and smiling upon us all flashing those “babe blue” eyes. She is watching from above trying to ease our pain, mend our hearts, and wishing us all to live well in our daily lives. We as a family live with two mottos that she instilled in us. First is “ain’t nobody happy till Mama’s happy.” Secondly, and her personal favorite, “Love Me Til My Heart Stops!” She can be assured, as her heart has stopped beating, we will all continue to love her forever! Gloria’s services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday August 3, 2016 at Christ Church Anglican, 5811 N. 20th Street, Phoenix, AZ 85016. There will be a reception in the Parish Hall following the service. Babe, upon her diagnosis in March 2012, received comfort, grace, and was made to feel beautiful and loved by the amazing volunteers of the Face in the Mirror organization. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Face in the Mirror in her honor. Mike, Kim and Kris,

Gloria was always special to me from the day Mike you brought her by Howard Hall and introduced her to me. You were all so lucky to have her as your wife and mother. She will live on in your lives with memories and reflections of all she did for you, with you, and always with love.

I always considered her my sister in-law and always will. She was a shining star inside and out and will be a part forever of everyone whose life she touched and left a lasting mark on their heart.

I love you all.
Pam

So very sorry for your loss. My heart goes out to you. What a lovely person she sounds. Hope all the love and caring of family and friends, including your classmates give you comfort during this, perhaps hardest time.

Condolence from Liz & Stu Carl on July 31st, 2016 7:25 am

Mike and family,
The one thing in life that is most important is time with loved ones. Gloria was a dear friend of ours for a short 5 years, the majority after her diagnosis. In that period of time, she became very special to us. Besides loving her smile, zest for life and humor, we were so impacted by her positive attitude and boundless determination to fight cancer. We didn’t see her often enough and that is our one regret. We thought we had more time.
Our deepest sympathy to you Mike and the whole family. We can only imagine the loss you are feeling. Hopefully memories wil bring you comfort. Memories of love and time shared.

A beautiful tribute to a beautiful person inside and out. May our loving Savior comfort you for the loss you are feeling. The Good News is that Jesus has prepared a place for us in Heaven where we will be reunited with our loved ones and with our Heavenly Father. And all tears will be wiped away from our eyes. Meanwhile, know that you are loved and in the prayers and thoughts of we who care for you.

I feel very blessed to have known Gloria, both on a professional and personal level. She was truly a very special person, as is the rest of her family. Which is a huge tribute to Gloria as a wife, mother and grandmother. My thoughts and prayers are with Coach and his family.

A woman of Elegant grace, big heart and contagious personality. A friend for a lifetime, will always carry close to my heart and forever in my thoughts. I feel very blessed and honored that I was one of the lucky ones that our lives got to pass. From time spent talking and getting to know each other, will always remember how much she shared her love for her family. She was so proud of each one and her wonderful ventures with her family. She will be so missed in my life. We had talked about future get togethers that I so looked forward to. My Love and prayers for the family and praying the memories will bring comfort at this time.
