Helen Catherine Wirt, 101, of Phoenix, Arizona, peacefully entered into Eternal Rest July 28, 2019 in Scottsdale, Arizona. She was born in Buffalo, New York on January 5, 1918.
She made her home and raised her family in Arizona. In life she was a vibrant, strong woman who was kind, thoughtful, and would do anything she could for her family, friends and faith community. She was a retiree of JC Penny’s boy’s department. She was a devout Catholic who lived her faith out through love. She was a long-time resident and parishioner of St. Stephen’s Byzantine Catholic Cathedral and could always be found serving in her community by folding bulletins or pinching perogies.
Helen will be remembered for her generous and kind spirit toward everyone, and her dedication and love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. From cooking elaborate meals just for lunch on Thursdays, babysitting and spoiling the great-grandchildren to just being there for a hug and a kiss and a big “I love you A LOT!”. She was the best grandmother in the world. In the end even though God was calling her home, she fought to stay and be with her family one last time. We had an amazing day of emotion, laughter, hugs, tears, reminiscing and I love you’ s. It was such a privilege to be a child of Helen. She always made you feel like you were important, loved and appreciated. We are hopeful to continue this legacy of love and compassion for others. We will always be grateful and miss her unconditional love and compassion she shared freely but are at great peace she has been reunited with her loving husband and daughter.
Helen was the daughter of Mikolaj and Mary Kastelik. She was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Kenneth Wirt; her only child Arlene Seiser; and her brother Chester. She is survived by her grandchildren Mark (Karen), Stephen (Amy), Karen (Evan), and Catherine (Kirk). She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Ashley, Kelsey, Julia, Kaitlyn, Drew and Ty.
