Jacob Ray Coblentz passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on April 24, 2018 in Phoenix, AZ. He was born March 30, 1937 in Greentown, Ohio to Albert and Verena (Eicher} Coblentz. He was married to Mary A. Wickey on May 1, 1957 to this union was born 3 children, Christina (John) Gingerich, Cornelius (Andrea) Coblentz and Tabitha (Gary) Knepp. He is survived by his wife Mary and his children, 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 7 brothers, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters, 2 brothers, and 1 sister-in-law. In 1968 he moved his family from Berne, IN to Phoenix, AZ where he had a successful carpentry business, remodeling homes. His long-time customers became friends for life. In 1980 He and Mary bought property in Spooner, WI across from their daughter Christina. They spent many summers watching deer, bears, and foxes in their back yard and winters in Phoenix with family and friends. Their lives revolved around people and many folks enjoyed the fruit of Mary’s cooking and Jake’s sense of humor. Visitation is from 4:00-8:00 PM Friday April 27, 2018 at Grace Mennonite Church, 8704 N. 7th Ave., Phoenix 85021. Funeral is at 10:00 AM Saturday April 28, 2018 at Grace Mennonite Church, followed by burial at Phoenix Memorial Park, 200 W. Beardsley, Phoenix 85027. Dear Mary, We are so sad to hear about Jake’s passing. He was one special man and we are honored to have known him and became friends with you two. We will treasure our memories of him, his stories and the times we spent together. We are especially glad for your visit to our church and home last summer, never dreaming it would be the last.
