Jean Farnham

Jean McGill Farnham, passed away February 18, 2015 at the Terraces Retirement Community in Phoenix, Arizona. She is survived by her husband of 19 years Dr. John B. Farnham and was preceded in death by her first husband Dr. Richard O. McGill and son Christopher Alan  McGill. She is also survived by sons Rick and Leigh McGill, as well as four grandchildren, Colleen Dugan, Maureen Darcy, Anna Westendorf Gerrish, and Leigh Clinton McGill. Great-grandchildren include Michael Dugan, James and Nicholas Darcy, Jack McEvila and Kevin Garcia. Jean grew up in Iowa, attended Simpson College and worked for Banker’s Life in Des Moines, before moving to New Mexico in 1944 and on to Phoenix in 1946. She obtained a Master’s Degree in Education at Arizona State University and was a high school counselor at Sunnyslope High. In 1996 she married Dr. John Farnham who she knew from her time at Simpson College. Visitation will be held from 11:30 AM-12:30 PM Sunday, February 22, 2015 at Hansen Chapel, 8314 N. 7th Street, Phoenix. Memorial Service Sunday, February 22 at 1:00 PM at the Terraces “Gathering Place”, 7550 N. 16th St., Phoenix. In lieu of flowers donations are suggested to the Paradise Valley United Methodist Church Peruvian Mission Fund, 4455 E. Lincoln Dr., Paradise Valley, AZ 85253; or to the Simpson College Farnham Scholarship Fund at simpson.edu.

I want to send condolences to Dr. John Farnham on the passing of your spouse. We worked together for many years and you were always a kind and compassionate doctor. I lost my beloved husband, Larry, 2 years ago and know how hard the loss can be. May God bless you and your family with comfort and peace.
