August 25, 1928 – January 31, 2014 Mother has finally found peace after a 3 1/2 year struggle with dementia and various physical challenges. The family is grateful for all the kindness that she received from the people at Caring for Loved Ones group home. She could not have been more comfortable. Jean is preceded in death by her first husband Roger I. Nulton (1969), and her second, Wallace T. Edgar (2009). She is survived by son Roger Nulton in Tacoma, WA, daughter Ruth Urban in Phoenix, and grandsons Steve and Tom Shillingburg. Jean worked as a bookkeeper and homemaker for most of her life. She was also an exceptional artist, enjoying painting, ceramics and other forms of artistic expression. Her creativity was further revealed by exquisitely decorating her home, especially for the holidays, when she also served as a gracious hostess, preparing festive food for family gatherings. She always had a beautiful garden, her favorite being roses. She liked basketball, from pickup games with boys in the alley in her younger days, to cheering for the Suns later in life. Jean was born in Lafayette, Indiana and grew up in Peoria, Illinois. She lived in Indiana and Western New York while raising her family with Roger. Shortly after he passed away unexpectedly, she moved to Scottsdale, where she spent the rest of her life. She loved the sunny warmth and the friendly people she met there. Mother was the nicest, kindest lady that one could ever meet. Her family misses her terribly. There will be a small private family service. Please make any donations to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 East Flower Street, Phoenix, AZ 85014. Please visit www.hansenm.com for online condolences.
