Jeremy Adam Killen passed away peacefully surrounded by his beloved family on November 24, 2018 in Phoenix, Arizona. Jeremy was born on August 17, 1975 in Phoenix to Charles W. Killen and Patricia A. (Masterson). He is survived by his wife Robbi J. (Traver), son Charles Robert, daughter Abigail Jo, sisters Shannon (Johansson), Tracy (Simon) and Erin. Jeremy is also survived by much-loved brothers-in-law Matt Simon and Joakim Johansson.
A natural athlete since an early age, Jeremy started gymnastics as a young child. He trained and competed throughout his youth, further honing his skills and love of gymnastics. Jeremy went on to attend the University of Oklahoma. Jeremy, who competed for the Sooners from 1994-97, helped usher in a new era of OU gymnastics, winning the school’s first individual national championship in 14 years. A multi-year Academic All-American, he was voted a recipient of the Male Scholar Athlete of the Year award at OU.
After earning his physical therapy degree at OU, Jeremy returned home to Arizona. Having grown up surrounded by the desert and mountain vistas of Phoenix and Cave Creek, Jer combined his passion for athleticism and his love of nature to become an avid mountain biker.
In 2005, Jeremy met and fell in love with Robbi Jo Traver. Jeremy and Robbi were married on February 28, 2009 and were thrilled to welcome Charlie on September 10, 2010 and Abby on June 13, 2012. Soon after, Jer and Robbi adopted their dog, Lucy, finally making the family complete. Of everything Jeremy accomplished in life, Robbi, Charlie and Abby were his greatest accomplishment and his greatest joy.
Jeremy, a lifelong non-smoker, was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2016. Throughout his illness, Jeremy worked tirelessly pursuing treatment options that would give him time with his family. A deeply committed father and husband, Jer devoted himself to nurturing his wife and children until the very end of his life. Jeremy leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter that will be dearly missed by all.
