Landis Haugen, 72, passed away on April 25, 2018, after bravely fighting Multiple Myeloma for several years. Born in Grand Forks, ND, on August 13, 1945, Landis grew up on a farm in Nelson County, North Dakota, attended McVille High School, then moved on to Concordia College in Moorhead, MN.
Landis started his long career with Tupperware at the entry level of the sales organization and diligently rose through the ranks achieving national recognition and the attention of the Corporate Office in Orlando, FL. In 1975, Landis became an independent franchised distributor in Des Moines, IA, and built one of the nation’s top distributorships. In 1982, Landis was again called on by the Company to move to Melbourne, Australia, becoming Managing Director of the Australian and New Zealand business units. Added to his title and responsibility in 1985 was President of Tupperware South Pacific with the additional markets of the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and South Korea.
Landis’s next move in the Company was to Tokyo, Japan, in 1990 where he became President of Tupperware Brands’ second biggest international market. In 1997, he was appointed Area VP of Tupperware Asia Pacific and moved to Hong Kong.
After a successful 30-year career with Tupperware, Landis joined the Sara Lee Corporation in 1997 and became President & CEO of one of Sara Lee’s newly acquired companies, NaturCare Japan, and moved back to Tokyo. Once again demonstrating strong leadership and management skills, Landis achieved the distinction of receiving seven consecutive performance annual awards during his tenure at Sara Lee Corporation.
In 2005, Tupperware Brands’ acquisition of Sara Lee’s direct selling brands and businesses brought Landis back full circle to the company that launched his career. After a distinguished 44-year career, he retired in 2010 and moved to Honolulu, HI, followed by a move to Paradise Valley, AZ, and lived between Hawaii and Arizona until his passing.
