Louis “Luigi” Cameli went home to be with his beloved wife, parents and dear friends on November 28, 2015. Lou was born September 19, 1927, in Chicago Heights, IL, to Zeferina and Frederico Cameli.
He will be missed by daughters: Cynthia and Janice; sister: Gloria O’Banion; grandchildren: Todd (Colleen), Mari (Jacob) and Jacob (Jackie); great-grandchildren: Kayleen, Calum and Jacob.
After graduating early from Bloom High School, Lou entered into the U.S. Navy and went aboard the U.S.S. Eversole touring the Pacific Arena. Lou married Mariann E. Miller in June 1952, after falling in love on a blind date.
Lou was a loving father and husband. He indulged his family on numerous genealogy trips to Minnesota and the Dakotas. He loved driving and didn’t mind all the stops for “treasures”. He lovingly cared for his wife, Mariann, throughout her illness and passing, providing the finest example of a loving husband.
Lou moved to Phoenix in 2002, to be near his daughters and his grandchildren. He loved to cook pasta, drink wine and sit outside socializing with all the friends and neighbors who would stop by. The jokes and laughter he provided, was his trademark.
Lou will be laid to rest at the Veteran’s National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85024 on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at 11:00am.
You will be missed. ….until we meet again.Print Obituary & Condolences
