Obituary

Vercruysse, Dorothy Born January 25, 1926 in DeKalb, Illinois, she has been a valley resident since 1937. She will always be remembered for her pleasant smile and loving spirit. She was an enthusiastic hiker and co-founder of the A.P.S. Kactus Kickers Hiking Club. She hiked most of the trails in Arizona and several trips to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and hiked to the summit of Mt. Whitney in California. She retired from APS after 32 years of service. She was married to George for 44 years. They were avid square dancers and enjoyed traveling the world together. She loved cats and especially her Timmie for 16 years. Her love of animals showed through her continuous generous donations to animal charities. She is preceded in death by her husband George, brother Charles Tully, niece Virginia Tully and her sister Mary Mangino. She is survived by her sister-in-law Joan Tully and many nieces and nephews and many cousins out of state in Minnesota and many hiking friends. Services will be at 11:30 am on Monday, February 8, 2010 with a gathering of family and friends beginning at 10 am at Hansen Mortuary, 8314 N. 7th St. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Best Friends (Animal) Sanctuary, 5001 Angel Canyon Rd., Kanab, UT 84741.
