Obituary
Mary Sue Wirick, age 85, passed away peacefully on March 27th 2010. Beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she was the love that made us all strong. Born April 24th, 1924 in Long Street LA to Bernard and Willie Mae Timmons, she has been a resident of Arizona since 1945 when she became the wife of Major Keith Merrill of Safford AZ. After his death, while on his last mission in the Pacific, she had the great fortune to meet and marry Nelson S. Wirick. They were married for fifty-three wonderful years until his passing in 2001. They lived in Prescott, AZ. for the last twenty-five years. Mother was the best domestic engineer we ever met. Her home was always welcoming. She had a flair for interior design, was a fabulous cook, an avid golfer, a dedicated bridge player and a lover of family and friends. She was a Southern gentlewoman, always gracious and elegant. Mary Sue is survived by her three children, Kathleen Lyons, Stan Wirick (Diana) Paula Merrill Belak (Robert), seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, two sisters and numerous nieces and nephews. No words can express how grateful we are to have had her in our lives, nor how deeply we will miss her. We thank the dedicated caregivers and staff of Encore and Hospice of the Valley who treated mother with love and dignity. And to Maria, a special thank you. You were Mother
