Daniel James Holish
February 09, 1970 - October 14, 2020
Daniel James Holish, age 50, made his final wry and sarcastic comments on Oct. 14, 2020. He was born Feb. 9, 1970, in Tucson, Ariz., and graduated from Scottsdale's Chaparral High School, where many of his lifelong friendships first came into being. Daniel's sense of humor and "pieces of advice" will be sorely missed, but the music he played, artwork he created, and poems he wrote will remain in our hearts always. Although the span of his life was less than average, Daniel did not live an average life. He taught us all that the best adventures are found beyond the "Do Not Enter" signs, that laughter is not just the best medicine but a way of life (and anything fart-related was a sure-fire way to induce a fit of his giggles), and that friendships are among life's greatest treasures. His charisma and charm touched so many people; it was hard not to feel an instant connection to Daniel. He had a carefree spirit and a complex soul. Always a fix-it man, even in his final hours Daniel was teaching his Hospice nurses how to use their wrenches to fix wheelchairs and bed posts. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Paulette "Joy" Duprey. Daniel is survived by his life partner Kit Woodward of Phoenix; his sister Tracie Hansen (Glenn) and father James Holish of Flagstaff; his daughters Anadia Rockey and Stormie Tuesday Valentine; a niece and nephew, uncles and cousins and countless friends who he considered as part of his extended family.
