Lowell John Stait
September 04, 1941 - June 11, 2021
Lowell John Stait passed away peacefully on June 11th, 2021 at the age of 80.
Lowell was born on September 4th, 1941 in Detroit, MI to Stanley and Rose Stait. Being the middle child of three boys, he grew up fast and was a bit of a rebel. At the age of 17, he dropped out of high school to join the Army. Later, he owned and ran his own service station for several years; when gas was a mere 35 cents a gallon.
The recession of the late 70s would lead Lowell and his growing family to resettle in Phoenix, AZ, where he found steady work, "a good union job," until his retirement at the age of 60.
Though Lowell lived the last half of his life in Phoenix, he always considered Detroit his home, rooting for his hometown Lions, Tigers, and Red Wings with cautious and unfaltering skepticism. Lowell loved to golf and was an exceptional bowler, having many 300 games under his belt as well as an 800 series. He was quite adept at auto repair and preferred to figure out how to solve a problem himself versus hiring out.
Lowell was a proud grandpa who relished in entertaining his growing clan of grandchildren when grandma needed a break. He was recently deemed the 'shoe guy' as his youngest grandchildren insisted on his assistance whenever shoes were required to be donned or removed.
Lowell is survived by his wife, Janine, four children, and 6 grandchildren.
