Stephen Paul Forrest

December 31, 1946 - June 20, 2021

Stephen 'Paul' Forrest, 74, passed away on June 20, 2021 at Hospice of the Valley Thunderbird.

Born in Pittsburgh, PA, he was the son of Stephen Paul Forrest and Ruth Eleanor (Conrady) Forrest. He graduated from St. Louis University High School in 1964 and received his undergraduate degree in 1968 from the University of Notre Dame. He attended Arizona State University for graduate work and served in the United States Army as an English teacher. In 1978, he graduated from Marquette University Law School. In 1980, he moved to Phoenix eventually becoming a partner in two different law firms. He was admitted to the Wisconsin Bar (1978), Arizona Bar (1980), and the US Supreme Court Bar (1987). Through his work, Paul was an ardent advocate for Arizona physicians and nurses with his passionate defense of medical professionals being well known across the state. Over his career, he mentored and influenced numerous young attorneys as they entered the practice of law.

Paul was an avid golfer, playing courses around the United States and Scotland for fun and as a part of charity tournaments. He loved to ride his bike, and he participated in numerous century road races in Arizona and Southern California. He was a member of St Paul's Roman Catholic Church where he helped other members attend mass each day.
He will be remembered for his devotion to family, guiding his son, nieces and nephews through the many challenges of life. He loved supporting learning, growth, and development. Towards this end, he never missed a graduation of his wife or son, traveling across the United States and to the United Kingdom to lead the congratulations.

His storytelling was legendary with many evenings spent recounting tales over good food. Few things made Paul happier than seeing others have fun. Paul would go out of his way to help people, from getting up early to brew their favorite coffee to acting as a taxi service on family vacations. He will be remembered as a devoted friend and by his favorite phrase, "Living the Dream." He was a steadfast supporter of Notre Dame Football, spending many fall Saturdays cheering for the boys in blue and gold.

He is survived by his loving wife Patricia; son Stephen Paul (Carol Schopfer) Forrest; grandson James Michael of Helena, MT; and sisters Ruth Coyne of Thousand Oaks, CA and Mary (Paul) Dowling of Buffalo, NY and numerous nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his parents, Stephen Paul and Ruth Eleanor Forrest, and his faithful canine boxer companion, Emma.
