Lynn Le Roy Knode
February 23, 1942 - July 24, 2021
Lynn Le Roy Knode, 79, passed away July 24, 2021, after a short battle with brain cancer. Lynn was born February 23, 1942, in Benson, MN, the son of Arthur Ray and Hilda Knode. He lived near Benson until age 4 when the family moved to Brainerd, MN. The family returned to Benson when Lynn was in 9th grade. He graduated from Benson High in 1960 and from the University of Minnesota in 1966 with a business degree. He married his high school sweetheart Betty in 1964. He served as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army from May 1966 to February 1969, stationed mostly in NY City. Lynn and Betty moved to Phoenix, AZ, in 1969. The bulk of Lynn's career was spent selling residential real estate and doing property management.
Lynn was forever the "group organizer." He wanted to know everyone and had a host of friends. He loved making people laugh. He was happy being at coffee groups, Happy Hours, playing billiards, attending plays at our little theater, or just visiting. Over the years Lynn & Betty traveled whenever they could, visiting places they never thought they would see. After Lynn retired, he spent time doing pencil art drawings as well as watercolors. He made cards and pictures for friends and relatives that reflected their interests, hobbies, and special events.
Lynn is survived by his wife Betty of 57 years, brothers- and sisters-in-law, many nieces and nephews, and their families. Betty would like to thank the caregivers at North Scottsdale Retreat and also the kindness and care of the Hospice of the Valley organization. Donations can be made to Hospice of the Valley (HOV) or to a charity of your choice.
Lynn's ashes will be interred at the National Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix. A gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date.
