Hannelore “Lore” Porter
May 02, 1943 - January 08, 2022
Hannelore "Lore" Porter, 78, of Phoenix, passed away on January 8th, 2022, following a sudden heart attack.
She was born in Schlierbach, Germany on May 2, 1943. Hannelore went to trade school in Germany where she was an apprentice, pursuing her life-long career as a hairdresser. She was married to Robert Porter on August 10, 1961 in Germany when he was in the service. They moved to Fort Dodge, Iowa in 1963. In 1977, they moved to Phoenix.
She owned a beauty salon for much of her adult life. She never retired, working until the day she died--because she loved her clients, co-workers, and profession so much. She also helped her husband with his catering and race production businesses.
She is survived by her son, Thomas Porter; daughter, Christine Porter Marsh; grandchildren, Merlin Porter, Aiyana Porter, and Porter Marsh; sister and brother-in-law, Christel and Tony Mutter; her longtime love, Theo Weismantel; and many other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, and her grandson, Landon Marsh.
She was vibrant, adventurous, generous, funny, kind, and very blunt. She never backed away from a challenge. She loved to travel and visited friends and family in Germany as often as she could.
Her name Hannelore means, "God is Gracious." We are grateful for her life. She was loved by all who knew her. We will miss her.
