March 30, 1977 - May 14, 2022
Cassandra Pendleton was called to be reunited with our Lord and Savior on May 14, 2022. Cassandra, known as "Casi" and "Cass" by family and friends, was born in New Rochelle, NY, but spent her formative years in Phoenix, Arizona. As a student, Casi was heavily involved with school clubs, including National Honor Society, Drama, Model U.N., Speech, Drill Team and Choir/Vocal Ensemble, and graduated with Honors with recognition in National Honor Society from Bourgade Catholic High School. Her passion throughout school was voice performance, and while she had earned the opportunity to attend Julliard to pursue this passion, God had a different path for her to follow.
In 1996, Cass married and began the journey of being an active military wife. She was the biggest cheerleader and supporter of her husband Chris (Lopez) as his career in the Navy matured. As time went on, Cassandra was blessed to become the mother of three amazing boys. Cass and Chris became proud the parents of Dylan (born 2000), Theodore (born 2004), and Gabriel (born 2005). The boys were the light of Casi's life, and she loved being a stay-at-home mother to support and nurture them.
As Chris, Cass and the boys moved from naval base to naval base, Cass was blessed to have many influential and important people come into her life. In El Paso, she met her co-madre Marisa, and in Washington she met both Sherry and Jessica, who helped to shape her life.
While stationed at Naval Station Everett in Washington, Cass felt most at home. There, Cass volunteered to provide assistance to sailors and their spouses as Ombudsman of the USS FORD, which led to many life-long friendships.
Life took an unexpected turn when Cass and Chris split, and she reconnected with Curtis, an unrequited love from earlier years. While God didn't have it in the plan for Cass and Curtis to be together as younger people, he led them back together to experience a once-in-a-lifetime love. Cassandra and Curtis wed in 2015 with the promise of giving each other "95+ years", along with a commitment to complete the "bucket list" and become amazing grandparents. She and Curtis looked forward to making good on all of those commitments, but again, God had other plans.
Casi's passing at such a young age and so unexpectedly, has had a pronounced impact on so many lives, and we'll miss her always. Cass was a generous, spirited soul who naturally gave of herself to others, unconditionally. Those that had the pleasure of knowing Cass will miss her infectious outgoing personality and humor.
Cassandra is survived by her husband Curtis, sons Dylan, Theodore, and Gabriel, parents Don (Ball) and Jody, siblings Cory, Betsy (Patton), and Daniel, and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many, many other loved ones.
As Cassandra was a lover of tie dye, Disney and dragonflies, attendees are encouraged to wear any or all in remembrance.
