George Eugene Bogle

January 12, 1938 - November 26, 2022

On Saturday, November 26, George Eugene "Geegie" Bogle ended a spectacular 84 year run on this planet. Born January 12, 1938 in Henderson, Kentucky, to J.D. and Ida Bogle, the family moved to Houston when he was three. He liked to joke that he got to Texas as quickly as he could. Geegie went to Reagan High in Houston, where he played guard, and in 1955/56 was part of the first High School team in Texas to reportedly feature every starter over 200 lbs., tackle to tackle. After graduating, he attended University of Texas (Hook 'em Horns!) where he was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. While at UT, he met the lovely Nancy Byrd Tennent when carpooling back to Houston. They married and remained together until his death, on the day of their 64th anniversary. George was a true pioneer in the Insurance and Managed Healthcare arenas. He began his career in Houston, Texas as an insurance agent. In 1965 he moved his young family to Phoenix and opened George Bogle and Associates, an insurance brokerage located on East Thomas Rd. Regardless of how busy he was, George found time to coach Pop Warner football. He loved coaching his teams up through several age groups, and his East Central Longhorns - what else? - enjoyed numerous undefeated seasons and won multiple Arizona State Championships. In 1985 he founded USA Managed Care Organization, which would eventually become the largest privately-held PPO in the U.S. with offices in five states, and operations in 42. Blessed with an agile brain and a great belief in himself (and with the help of a few friends and some amazing employees) George's companies became leaders across the healthcare industry. George retired in December of 2021 as Founder, President, CEO, and Chairman of the Board of USA Managed Care Organization and USA Senior Care Network, as well as Managing Member of Bogle Family Realty, a commercial real estate management and development company he founded in 1999, with properties in Arizona and Texas. Even in his retirement George loved going into the office and did so up until just weeks before he passed. George was preceded in death by both parents and his younger brother, James Byron "Butch" Bogle. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Byrd; Daughter Katherine Bogle Leavitt (Larry) of Angel Fire, NM; son George Michael Bogle of Scottsdale, AZ; his grandson Arcello Bogle of Flagstaff, AZ; granddaughter Unyque Bogle of Pueblo, CO; three beautiful great granddaughters; and two nephews Scott Bogle (Alison) of Austin, TX and Brad Bogle (Ellen) of Lovettsville, VA. A celebration of life is planned after the holidays. Invitations will go out as plans are formalized. Please, no flowers or donations are necessary; he asked only that you hug your family and tell them you love them. Cards may be sent to Hansen Mortuary, 8314 North 7th Street, Phoenix, Arizona, 85020, labeled in care of the Bogle Family.
