Charles Sidmon Garland, 74, of Tolleson, Arizona passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2023, at 2123 hours, at home. He was the husband of J. Denise Garland. Together they shared 17 years of marriage.

Charles was born March 12, 1948 to William Frederick Garland and Glecia Margaret Looney Garland in Berkeley, California. He attended McClymond High School in Oakland, California, and he graduated in 1966. Charles was employed at Clear Image and he worked as a warehouse manager.

Charles received the following awards and honors during his lifetime: The National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal,
and the Vietnam Campaign medal.

In his religious affiliation, Charles was Baptist. Charles' hobbies and interests included dancing, singing, and bingo.

Charles will be remembered for his love of cars, peanut butter-and-jelly sandwiches, and Pepsi.

Charles is survived by his wife, J. Denise Garland; his sons Jonathan E. Garland, wife Amanda, Andre D. Garland, wife Kathryn, Frederick A. Garland, and Jermaine Garland; his step-son William Marcus Jones; his grandchildren from Jonathan -- Jontae (Goober), Nevaeh, Sanae, and Yohanes; From Andre -- Andre Jr., and Alyssa.

Charles is further survived by his brothers Roy Garland and niece April Garland; Rodney Garland, Sr. and wife Darcus Garland, and nephew Rodney Garland Jr. (Boogaloo Boo), and niece Charlene Garland (Charles' Shadow); and his niece Jacqueline Stanley, daughter of his predeceased sister, Terry A. Webster. Charles also leaves to cherish his memory a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends..

Charles is preceded in death his father, William Frederick Garland, his mother, Glecia Margaret Looney Garland, his sisters Billie J. Swift
and Terry A. Webster.

Funeral Services for Charles Sidmond Garland will be held on January 10, 2023 at 10:00AM at Hansen Mortuary Chapel, located at 8314 North 7th Street, Phoenix, Arizona 85020. Following the conclusion of the service, Charles will be laid to rest at 2:00PM at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 North Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, Arizona 85024
