Obituary
Allan Ray Porter (age 63) returned to his heavenly home on March 5, 2023. He was born in Fruita, Colorado, and graduated from Mountain View High School in Mountain View, WY. He continued his studies, earning undergraduate and graduate degrees in education from Utah State University. Along the way, he was employed as a welder and town maintenance worker, before starting his career as an educator. Allan taught public school in Wyoming and Nevada for 26 years.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served a two year mission in Mexico. During his 47 years of church membership he served in numerous callings, including scout master, ward clerk, teacher, ward missionary, and temple ordinance worker. He shared 38 years of marriage with his wife Randi, and the two have been residents of Pahrump, NV for the past 25 years. Allan and Randi have six children and four grandsons.
Allan was preceded in death by his father, William L Porter. He is survived by his mother, Doral Porter of Mountain View, WY, sister Tammy (Darwin) Shaw of Syracuse, UT, wife Randi Porter of Pahrump, NV, their six children: Jeffrey (Micha) Porter of Burns, OR, Allison (Ian) Chamberlin of Mesa, AZ, Thomas Porter of Las Vegas, NV, Michelle (Doug) Barlow of Pahrump NV, Benjamin Porter of Pahrump, NV, and Kimberly (Benjamin) Oyston of Cookeville, TN, four grandsons: David, Andrew, and Martin Barlow of Pahrump, and Jacob Oyston of Cookeville, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, nieces, and nephews. Allan will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on March 31, 2023 at 11am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 5461 Manse Road, Pahrump, NV, with internment at the Grandview Cemetery.
