My husband and I give the utmost respect and deepest sympathy for the loss of your beautiful and beloved, Joyce.
We had the honor and pleasure to have been her friend and neighbor for over 17 years. We both moved out of the neighborhood around the same time, Spring of 2021, and my husband and I deeply regret that we had not visited Joyce since we moved a little further North.
I think about Joyce very often and reflect on our friendship in such a wonderful way. Joyce and I had so much in common. We both adored flowers and I always enjoyed checking out her gorgeous roses! We connected on interior design, especially the modern aesthetic, and we had a lot of fun talking about styles of architecture, furniture (we loved mid-century) and the cool stores we liked to shop at. She was so excited to show off her new wet bar area that she remodeled I think in 2019 or early 2020 and she was super pleased that I approved of the countertop material she chose! Joyce also had a great sense of humor. I remember telling her that I could barely see her head when she was driving her car and she gave me the hairiest eyeball! We laughed a lot!
Another thing we connected on in a BIG way was our LOVE for dogs! And randomly we both LOVED Chinese breeds! When we first moved into the neighborhood, she still had her Shar-Pei and we had our first Pekingese. She couldn’t believe we had a Peke, as her daughter who I believe was the first owner of our home, also had a Peke! We both thought it was a funny sign that we were meant to be there and meant to be friends. Joyce and I were there for each other when we lost our pets. I basically lost my mind (or saw things with better clarity) when Chuck Roast passed away. I tuned into to a deeper connection with all things and had somewhat of a spiritual awakening. Rainbows had symbolic meaning and the awareness of synchronistic events were popping up all over the place. When Joyce’s Shih Tzu passed away, sweet baby Zoey, I’ve never seen a woman so sad and angry in my life. She was flat out unapproachable for weeks. And then with time she warmed up to the love and the hugs that came her way. Thankfully an angel came into her life that brought her some joy again, sweet baby Bella.
I remember talking to Joyce about life and thinking what a connected spiritual being she was and always will be. She was there for me emotionally for not only the loss of my pet, but also when I needed someone to talk to about anything.
Joyce, almost 50 years our senior, was a true and needed friend. You never know who is going to come into your life and be that special person for you. We reciprocated our love for each other and we both felt it.
Joyce will forever be the most beautiful flower and friend one could ever ask for.
