Posted By Carrie Franklin On July 26, 2016 @ 9:50 am In Obituaries | 9 Comments

On Sunday 24 July 2016, Roberta A. Burckle (Bertie) went home to be with her Lord. She was loving mother to Allison A. Solarik and wife of husband Greg Burckle. She is also survived by her sister Kathy Farrell of Apollo Beach Florida. Bertie was born in Toledo Ohio on 31 Mar 1953. She attended Ferris State College before becoming an Administrative Assistant. She was superb at this and experienced a few long employment periods before winding up at Colliers International. Her bosses were some of her best friends. They laughed and cried and prayed together. Her only daughter, Allison, was the rose in her garden; the most wonderful child. Bertie was previously married to Brian Solarik, the father of Allison. She had many real friends, she had many great episodes in her Book of Life. She was never without a smile and would help anyone in need. She was Greg’s ardent supporter for 20 years. Her favorite color was purple. She planted any flower that was purple. Her two rescue cats, Candy and Dandy already miss her. A Celebration of Life will be held at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 4930 E. Greenway Rd. Scottsdale AZ, her church home for many years, on 31 July 2016 at 1:00 PM. A lunch will be served at 11:30 with the service beginning at 1:00 PM. Contributions in lieu of flowers can be made to Resurrection Lutheran Church, Children’s ministry or the Arizona Animal Welfare League & SPCA, home of Candy and Dandy.

Condolence from Mary Beth Campbell on July 27th, 2016 10:42 am

In loving memory of Bertie, a dear friend who I miss dearly. My deepest sympathy to Greg, Allison and Kathy.

I’m Free

Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free.
I’m following the path God laid for me.
I took his hand when I heard him call.
I turned my back and left it all.

I could not stay another day
To laugh, to love, to cry or play

Tasks left undone must stay that way,
I found that place at the close of day.

If my parting has left a void
Then fill it with remembered joy,
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss
Yes, these, I too, will miss,
Be not burdened with times of sorrow.
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.

My life has been full; I savored much,
Good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief,
Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief.

Lift up your heart and shine with me.
God called me home – He set me free.

Condolence from Rob, Stephanie, Milan & Kino Martensen on July 27th, 2016 1:11 pm

Bertie was a great friend to our family. She was our “go to” sitter for our Children, Milan and Kino. They both lit up when we told them Bertie was coming to play with them. Every time, no matter what. She was so thoughtful and generous to them, especially on Birthdays and Christmas. She loved our kids very much and I am happy that they were able to bring her such Joy. I will miss her smiling face around the office and the days that I would show up to a plate of cookies that she had baked for me “just because”. We will all truly cherish the time we spent together. Thank you Bertie, for all that you did for us and for everyone else.

Condolence from Janet Melamed on July 29th, 2016 5:53 pm

Dear Allison and Greg,
It was with great sorrow that we learned of Bertie’s passing. Our Pet Nanny, Zillah Barnes, contacted us in Wisconsin, where we spend our summers. Bertie took care of our dogs and cat this past spring and previously while we were traveling. She was always a delight and we felt completely comfortable leaving her caring for our home and our beloved pets. We can’t begin to imagine the loss you are enduring and only hope that you find comfort knowing that others have loved Bertie too.
With deepest condolences.
Janet and John Melamed

Condolence from Roger & Trudene Reusch on July 29th, 2016 7:47 pm

We know it’s been a difficult time for you and Allison, you’ve had to deal with a lot more things than any one person should have to, that’s why we are keeping you in our thoughts and prayers and hoping that things will get better for you soon. Bertie is in Heaven now, comfortable in the arms of Jesus.

Condolence from Beth Jackson on August 3rd, 2016 7:10 pm

Greg and Allison, you are both in our thoughts and prayers. Bertie was the most kindest woman I’ve ever known. I remember being at a Women’s Retreat, not knowing anyone and feeling lost and alone. And then Bertie came up to me with the most beautiful smile and took me under her wing, not just then but for many years. I hope that you find some comfort in knowing that Bertie’s faith in Jesus is strong and she is truly home.
Much love and God Bless, Beth and Larry Jackson
