On the morning of December 7, 2018, Ryan died from unexpected complications of Spinal Muscular Atrophy. He died peacefully, surrounded by his family and the caring team at Ryan House.
Ryan was born in London, England on April 23, 2001. He was the second child of Holly and Jonathan Cottor and an adoring brother to Ethan. Ryan and Ethan shared a witty sense of humor through which they shared inside brotherly laughs and a collaborative work relationship with a recent formation of a business that combined their passions.
From a young age, Ryan’s eagerness and resolve to live life to its fullest carried bravery and hope into each challenge with which he was presented. Ryan often sought out new and unconventional opportunities, and he paved roads for others to follow as he chose to experience life without limitations. He found joy in flying drones, gaming, 3-D printing, and adaptive shooting an AR-15, but his dream was to work at Pixar Animation Studios. Ryan was accepted to Arizona State University for the fall of 2019 to pursue his passion with a major in Digital Culture (Graphic Information Technology).
Ryan’s parents and family would like to express their sincerest gratitude to each member of the widespread community that has provided so much support throughout each phase of Ryan’s life. A celebration of Ryan’s life will be held on Wednesday December 19, 2018, at 3:30pm in Neeb Hall at Arizona State University, 920 S. Forest Mall, Tempe 85281. Bow ties are welcome! In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Ryan House (ryanhouse.org) or a charitable organization of your choice in honor of Ryan.
