William Frederick Halverhout, 93, of Prairie Village, KS (and more recently Phoenix, AZ), passed away on December 16, 2018 in Phoenix, where the family is having a private memorial. Burial will follow at Johnson County Memorial Gardens in Overland Park, KS.
William (Bill) was born on March 10, 1925, in Kansas City, KS, where he later attended Wyandotte High School. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps in WWII and the Korean War, 1943 – 1954. He and his wife Karen York Halverhout graduated from the University of Kansas in 1950 and began 68 years of marriage later that year. Bill and Karen settled in Prairie Village, KS, where they raised son Winn Halverhout and daughter Anne Halverhout Curzon. Bill was Vice President of Haas & Associates real estate management company for most of his career.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Albert William Halverhout and Edith Breneman Halverhout; sisters Rosemary Halverhout Obee and Edith Halverhout Brunker; and two younger brothers who died at age 2. He is survived by sister Anna Mae Halverhout Greiner (John); wife Karen; children Winn Halverhout (Nancy) and Anne Curzon (Tom); grandsons Peter Curzon (Caroline) and Danny Curzon (Kelsey); great-grandson Brody Curzon; and two additional great-grandchildren expected in January and April.
