William John Majkowycz, age 69, passed away on October 14, 2019 surrounded by his loving wife and two children. He was the husband of Richarda “Ricki” Mary Majkowycz with whom he shared 27 years of marriage. They moved to Arizona together from Syracuse, NY in May of 1986.
Will was born in Syracuse, NY, the son of Wasyl and Anastazja Hvozda Majkowycz who came to the United States from Ukraine not long before Will was born. Will graduated from Bishop Ludden Catholic High School in 1968. He was drafted in the U.S. Army shortly after his 20th birthday.
Will was a long-distance truck driver for many years; he had a love for the road and rarely had to use a map. After moving to Phoenix with Ricki, he became employed at CompUSA and worked for many years there as the Warehouse Manager. Will had a love for the desert and hiking when he was able. He was diagnosed with Adult Onset Stills Disease in 2002 and was unable to work after that; however, he cared for his kids and brought them to school every day. Will loved to read the bible and watch Turner Classic movies. He also had a love for Zane Grey books and John Wayne movies.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Valley parish and was a 3rd degree Knight for the Knights of Columbus. Will was an advocate of St. Joseph’s Youth Camp where his son attended for many years as a youth, counselor and assistant cook.
Will is survived by his wife Ricki Henderson Majkowycz; children Andrea and Alexander Majkowycz; sister Lesia (Bob) Ruebsamen; and many nieces and nephews.
Vigil service will be from 2:00-3:30 PM on Sunday, October 20, 2019 at Hansen Chapel, 8314 N. 7th St., Phoenix 85020. Funeral will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 21, 2019 at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, 3220 W. Greenway Rd., Phoenix 85053, with reception to follow.Print Obituary & Condolences
